Children's Church

Alternative for their participation in 10:30am service

Although the ideal is that your entire family, regardless of age, would worship together, we understand that some families might want their children to interact with the Word in an age-segregated setting during the Sunday service.  Children's church is the alternative for children ages 4 through 2nd grade.

Children leave for Children's Church during the greeting time in the 10:30am service.

AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (2 Timothy 2:15). The mission of this organization is to "reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him."

About the Program

AWANA follows the Maryville School schedule.  There are no Wednesday children's activities during Christmas break, and Summer Bible Club is held in lieu of AWANA during the summer break period.

Age groups:

  • Cubbies (3 & 4 year-old)
  • Sparks (K-2nd grade)
  • TNT (3rd - 6th grade)

Club layout:

  • Game Time: The children love this segment more than anything else! Here, they work with their team and play games that teach them to work together and encourage one another.

  • Handbook time: This is one of the most important segments of AWANA. Your child will receive a booklet with Scripture and other material to memorize. Your child brings this handbook each week so that we can go over the memory work with them, including scripture references. By saying their memory verse to their leader, they will earn their handbook, uniform, and awards. This segment is crucial for spiritual growth.

  • Council time: During this segment, your child will hear a message from God's Word. Each week, we will also talk about missions, looking at specific areas of world and missionaries who are serving Christ at home or abroad.

Each week, meals are provided for AWANA students at 5:30pm.  Your child must be registered in the AWANA program.  If your child has a food allergy, you must contact the church or note that in their registration so that we can be accommodating to your child's dietary restrictions.

We run buses in the Eagleton area in order to pick up children from the community for our Wednesday evening programs and take them home.  If you would like to take advantage of this service, contact the church to get your child's added to the bus route.  Your child must have a permission form filled out and on file for them to ride the bus.

Cancellation Days

There will not be AWANA on days when the Maryville City Schools are out due to inclement weather or when County or City Schools are out due to illness.

Our Vision

The Children's Ministry of Broadway Baptist Church considers each child to be a precious and unique gift of God. Our goal is to teach the children through age appropriate foundational curriculum, Bible study and activities, discipling them to serve the Lord. Our desire is to encourage each child in a life-changing relationship with Jesus, as well as encourage parents to disciple in the home environment.
