Peter reminds us that we are family1 We are the “born-again ones,” those that address God as Father, those that are brothers and sisters in Christ. We are family! But even family relationships can often be a messy endeavor. We often hurt and offend the very ones we love the most!
In our text this morning, it seems that Peter is focused upon two realities: our spiritual growth and our behavior toward one another. These two realities are not unrelated; the one shapes the other. Our spiritual maturity shapes our conduct and behavior toward our fellow believer.
