After spending these last few months walking through the epistle of 1 John, I feel as though we should “know” some things with confidence. This is a major purpose of John’s writing, our assurance.

As John closes his letter, he returns to this subject of assurance by reminding his readers of some things that they can know. Verses 18-20, all begin with the phrase, “We know that” (twice in verse 20).

So, what do we know?
