The Rejection of the KING

As we have already established from our examination of John 18:37, Jesus declares His Kingship and describes His kingdom as “not of this realm”; His kingdom is otherworldly. Pilate and the Jews debate much concerning this King of the Jews. Pilate seems to be mocking the Jews, concerning this humble king. The Jews seeking to destroy Jesus, accuse him of being a threat to Caesar.

However, let us be clear. Neither Pilate nor the Jewish leaders are calling the shots. As Jesus told Pilate, “You would have no authority over Me, unless it has been given to you from above.” (John 19:11) All things are being fulfilled according to the Scriptures. Not one Messianic prophecy will be left unfulfilled! God is moving the Divine drama of the ages to a climax, a climax that will forever change the world.
