The Innocent for the Guilty

This morning as we continue our study of John’s gospel, we meet a very interesting character by the name of Barabbas, Barabbas’ story is a unique twist in the Passion narrative, yet it proclaims much to us about the reason Christ was dying on the cross. This morning we swim in deep water, as we consider a doctrinal truth: penal substitutional atonement. This doctrine answers the question, “How can a holy God be reconciled to a sinful man?”
