Spiritual Growth & Development within a Faith Family

John was once known as one of the “sons of thunder” (whatever that nickname my have represented) but after the transforming work of the gospel we know him as the “beloved Apostle”.
John more than any other New Testament writer uses terms of endearment to express his love for his brothers and sisters in Christ. John uses the term “little children” repeatedly to express his affection for his faith family: 2:1; 2:28; 3:18; 4:4; and 5:21.
