The Test of True Religion
Feb 6, 2022 • Dr. Tony Collins
The word “religion” is rarely used in the New Testament, occurring only here, in Acts 26:5, and in Colossians 2:18. It refers to ceremonial observances, rituals and devoted practices. The term is perhaps rarely used in the N.T. for the same reason Christians avoid the term today, because it is very broad and so vague that is not very helpful. It can refer to any form of worship and ritual. Religion is a term often used today with negative connotations. Religion is the action or activity, the practice or ceremony in response to what one believes. This morning, our study of James is going to teach us what genuine Christian religion will be engaged in practicing and in doing!
