The Christian Ethic is to be Governed by Love

The book of Hebrews is a masterful work declaring the glory and the superiority of Jesus Christ. It has one central theme and one great hero, Jesus. It weaves the Old Testament together in a way that no other New Testament epistle does. In some places, it is very doctrinal, but as the writer closes the letter, it becomes very practical in nature.

Our theology should be reflected in our every-day conduct and behavior. What we believe about God should inform and reign over our thoughts and actions. Every thought should be subject to Christ!

What is the most essential element of a Biblically informed code of ethic? The highest ethical duty of a Christian is the same as the greatest commandments: love God and love your neighbor. Scripture is the Christian authority for ethics, just as it is for theology.
