The Sifting of Peter

When we examine the harmony of the four gospels, we may be surprised to find there are very few things that are recorded in all four; for example, the only miracle recorded in all four gospels is the feeding of the five thousand.
While this is true, every gospel writer includes the betrayal by Judas and Peter’s denials. The first half of John chapter 18 has three primary characters: the Lord and two disciples, Judas and Peter. In the garden Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss, while Peter sought to defend Jesus with the sword.
